Celebrating birthdays on sets of movie sets can be quite surprising at times. While the birthday celebrity will get to enjoy celebrating the day amidst the film crew, the location of the shooting becomes an important member as well.

Alia Bhatt, whose birthday passed by recently, got memorable experience for her special occasion, to be cherished for life long. For her forthcoming Imitaz Ali’s film ‘Highway’, the actress was shooting in in a salt factory in Sambhar (Rajasthan) during her birthday.

Born and brought up in a city like Mumbai, the world of Sambhar where anything and everything has more than a pinch of salt was a revelation for the young star. Alia said to have been mesmerised with the location most, compared to other shooting spots of the film. Highway took me to all these amazing places that I probably wouldn't have ever seen otherwise. Sambhar, the salt factory, was the most beautiful and the most weird experience for me, shared the young ‘Student Of The Year’ famed beauty.

Sambhar had such a good impression on her, that Alia felt one with her on-screen character. I celebrated my birthday there as well...in many ways, I think it was here that I truly started feeling like Veera (her character in the film), remarked Alia.

Films capture journeys but in Imtiaz Ali's much-awaited 'Highway', the journey has made the film. Presented by Sajid Nadiadwala and starring Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda, the film traverses six states of north India and captures the landscape of the different regions as it goes along.

'Highway' will release on February 21st 2014.
