Remember the Lalitha Jewelers ad in which the company's owner relentlessly advised us to buy gold from him after dully visiting all gold shops and comparing the prices, quality, etc? The ad featuring him made him a household face. He came to be nicknamed as 'Gundu Boss' on the Internet.

Comedian Ali seems to have followed in his ideal footsteps. He visited all 'gold shops' (TDP, Jana Sena and YSRCP), compared the pros and cons of joining them, put forward his negotiation, and took a final call only after all this process. He is now in YSRCP's kitty.

It was in late 1990s that Ali took the membership of the TDP along with Murali Mohan and others. His political life was passive. He tried to contest in 2014 on TDP ticket but failed. The long-time Pawan Kalyan friend seemed to come close to joining the Jana Sena only in 2017. Pawan was gifted a copy of Quran by Ali and everybody thought he would join his long-time friend.

Only a few months back, Ali hobnobbed with TDP leaders and had a photo-op with Jaganmohan Reddy. The 'Gundu Boss' principle seems to have worked for him.
