Ali Fazal: Broadway Musical missing in our cinema

  • IndiaGlitz, [Monday,June 27 2016]

Ali Fazal is no stranger to the stage! He has worked in several reputed theatre productions in India and recently had his own share of experience with Broadway! Ali was in London on a work trip recently where he had the fortune of having seen one of the most reputed broadway productions, "The Book of Mormons". Post watching the show, Ali contacted a production of one of the broadway shows and managed to grab a chance to have a short course on movement and speech from broadway stalwarts.

Of the time he spent in London, Ali managed to wrap up a course for the first time and that too around a world famous platform. Speaking of his experience, Ali said, "Theatre in London is all the to the top. I've seen a lot of broadway musicals. And wondered why we don't have a single musical of our own in cinema where the dialogues are written on meter and the actors actually sing it to wing it. The choreography and the movement is something I wanted to get familiar with. The workshop was based on measured movements on beat and rhythm. Which is the essence of performance be it stage or camera."
