Director Vijay, who recently bought a posh penthouse apartment on the happening Khadar Nawaz Khan Road at Nungambakkam in Chennai, conducted a housewarming ceremony on Monday morning, which was attended by his close friends and relatives.

"The filmmaker, who is known for trying something different in all his films, is just doing that to his dream home. The interiors are out of the box and the look of the house is classic yet contemporary," sources say.

The apartment's value is said to be in crores and it is Vijay's gift to his parents. He recently confirmed this in an interview, saying that it was his longtime dream to gift a home to his father (producer AL Azhagappan) and mother.

The 'Madrasappatinam' and 'Deiva Thirumagal' director is currently wielding the megaphone for 'Thaandavam', which has Vikram, Anushka Shetty and Amy Jackson in lead roles. In the coming weeks, he will be leaving for the United States to shoot the movie.
