Three notable films release this weekend - 'Singh Is Bliing', 'Talvar' and 'Puli'. Out of this, it is only 'Singh Is Bliing' which will take a huge opening at the Box Office. The Akshay Kumar starrer has made all the right buzz ever since its first poster came out, and ever since then has seen an escalation in momentum as far as hype is concerned. The film is releasing with a good element of positivity around it, which is a must for a biggie. The songs have worked as well with a couple of chartbusters. Moreover, it is arriving on the weekend of 2nd October, which is a big national holiday. That is further going to give impetus to its collections.
All of this means that Akshay Kumar is now all set to get not just his biggest collections of the year so far, but also his career. His 'Gabbar Is Back' (13.05 crore) opened well while 'Brothers' (15.2 crore) had created record for his biggest opening ever, while leaving behind 'Rowdy Rathore' (15.1 crore). Now 'Singh Is Bliing', with the mass appeal that it carries, should comfortably cross this mark, and would be aiming for a Day One of 20 crore. For Prabhudheva too, the film is important as it brings him back with Akshay Kumar after Rowdy Rathore, which means he too is set for his biggest opener till date.
On the other hand Talvar, very surprisingly, is seeing a low key release. A very good film with rave reviews coming from the Toronto International Film Festival, the film has all going for it, including an impressive cast of Irrfan and Konkona Sen Sharma. Moreover, it has the name Vishal Bhardwaj attached to it. Still, unlike Haider v/s Bang Bang clash last year which was hyped to the extreme, there is hardly any clash per se with Talvar just not seeing any hype around it. The promotion too has been hardly visible. The film is seeing a limited release and would entirely depend on word of mouth, which is expected to be good.
Dubbed version of Sridevi starrer Puli is releasing this week as well. However, unlike Baahubali, there has been practically zero promotion done and hype created around the Hindi release. It would struggle to take off at the Box Office.
