'Wagah' - That's the name of the character that Akshaye Khanna plays in Dishoom, which releases on the coming Friday. The Rohit Dhawan directed action comedy entertainer has cricket in the middle of affairs and Akshaye is supposed to be playing a man who is 'neither from India, nor Pakistan, but can shake down things, if need be'. While match fixing also forms an integral part of the film's narrative which has Saqib Saleem playing a character which is apparently inspired by Virat Kohli, John Abraham and Varun Dhawan are being buddy cops who are on the hot chase to nab the culprit and help clean the sport of cricket.

However, there have also been some speculations floating around the inspiration behind the whole cricketing saga that the Sajid Nadiadwala and Sunil Lulla film is expected to be. In one of the recent press conferences attended by Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez, one of the journalists asked the actor point blanked if Akshaye's character was actually inspired by Lalit Modi.

This is what Varun responded with a smile, "Looks like you have researched a lot. I don't want to reveal much since the film is just a few days away. The film is based on match fixing and bookies. All I can say is that Indian government could not get Lalit Modi back. In the film, John and I are trying to get Akshaye Khanna back to gain justice."

With no denial coming in one waits to see if there are going to be some sort of similarities between real and real life after all.

Stay tuned, as Dishoom releases all over on 29th July.
