Remakes and sequels are the order of the day. But someone is too much into it. It is none other than National Award winner director Rituparno Ghosh. He is already making so many films that one tends to miss out a few in the list. God knows how this super human director manages so many films, and with such cinematic grace too!

He is now remaking Dev Anand's Guide under the title Raahgir. The film is being produced by PNC. It is a clear adaptation of Vijay Anand's cult classic Guide. It will have Vidya Balan with superstar hunk Akshay Kumar in the lead. Vidya is soon becoming the first choice these days for classy and substantial performance-oriented roles. She is also the first choice for period films. She is doing Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Eklavya, Yagna, Sudhir Mishra's film.

But coming back to the lead casting for Ghosh's Guide remake, for now, nothing is finalized on paper, but that is also not too far from happening, and people expect Akshay and Vidya to be finalized.

The film is still being readied on paper. It will hit the floors in the next quarter of the year and may be slated for a year-end release.

Prior to releasing it in India the film is planned to go to several international film festivals. Besides this PNC also has Vikram Bhatt's Ankahee in the month of March, Pyar ke Side Effects with Rahul Bose and Mallika Sherawat, Anjan Dutt's Bow Barracks Forever and Rituparno Ghosh's Khela.
