Fans have been awaiting the release of Akshay Kumar's cop flick 'Sooryavanshi' for a really long time. It was initially supposed to release in March 2020 but the pandemic ruined the plans. Since then, the film has been delayed a few times due to situations not being favourable for theatres to operate. Director Rohit Shetty didn't take the easy way out by releasing the film on digital platforms.
Fortunately, the release of 'Sooryavanshi' is not too far now. Maharashtra government has announced that movie theatres will finally start operating in the state from October 22. Rohit Shetty shared the news on his Instagram alongwith a picture from his meeting with Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray. Rohit also revealed that he's planning to release 'Sooryavanshi' on the ocassion of Diwali.
The caption on his post read, "Thanks to our Honourable Chief Minister, Shri Uddhav Thackeray, theatres in Maharashtra to reopen from 22nd October. And FINALLY!!! we can say, This DIWALI… AA RAHI HAI POLICE."
'Sooryavanshi' will unite the characters of Ajay Devgan and Ranveer Singh from 'Singham' and 'Simmba' with Akshay Kumar's character. This grand scale teamup would not have been as impactful on digital platforms as it is going to be on the big screen.
