Akshay Kumar's next highlights a negative aspect of Bollywood

Bollywood has often been criticised for casting actresses who are too young for their male counterparts. We often see actors in their mid 50s romancing actresses who are in their mid to late 20s. Casting of Rakul Preet Singh alongside Akshay Kumar in his next film 'Mission Cinderella' is the latest example of this. The basis of her casting was that she didn't look awkward with Ajay Devgan so she'll look alright with Akshay as well.
The problem is that Rakul's film with Ajay was based on the relationship with a large age gap and making it the basis of normal couple is really ironic. Earlier, several people including Dia Mirza talked about weird is it to watch middle aged dudes making love to girls who are young enough to be their daughters.
One of the main issues that we witness this problem is the actors being reluctant to accept their age. Stars who were young in the 90s do not want to move on with their age and wish to keep doing same young loverboy roles even almost three decades later while their contemporary actresses are nowhere to be seen. Hopefully, the emergence of new and innovative cinema will deal with this problem in the future.
