Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar’s ‘Gold’ had always piqued our interest from the very start of the film’s announcement itself. Releasing the posters and teasers now and then, as promised the makers have finally dropped the brand new trailer today which is over two minutes. High on patriotism and sport essence, the trailer has awed us and made us badly wait for the movie that is releasing this Independence.
The trailer that portrays the golden era of our national sports, hockey, traces the journey of a determined young assistant manager, Akshay’s dream. A dream of fetching the gold medal for the country as an independent nation took 12 years to become a reality, from 1936 to 1948. All these years, the Khiladi King had been bringing together a team that was fallen apart only to unite again to achieve the dream. The trailer that ends with Kumar saying ‘Vande Mataram’ leaves us all goosebumped. Watch the trailer here!
Inspired by true incidents, ‘Gold’ has been shot in the United Kingdom and India as well. Directed by Reema Kagti, the film also features Mouni Roy who marks her debut in Bollywood with this, Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Singh, Sunny Kaushal and Nikita Dutta.
‘Gold’ that is slated to hit the screens on this Independence Day, August 15, marks 70 years of free India’s first gold medal at the 1948 Olympics.
