The pandemic has caused the theatres to go out of business yet again with its second wave. Filmmakers are either holding on to the releses or opting the easy way by releasing films online. Amidst all this, Akshay Kumar announced the release of his film 'Bell Bottom' a few weeks ago. The film was supposed to release theatrically on 27th of July.
The announcement was met with excitement as well as confusion since most of the theatres around the nation are still out of business. As the release date is nearing, it seems highly unlikely that film will open to the audience and it'll be sensible on the part of makers to postpone it till situation gets better.
A source close to the project said, "There is no decision taken on ‘Bell Bottom’ yet as theatres are yet to open in the country.” Sources suggest that film might be pushed to the Independence Day release. The film faced troubles with theatre owners as well who wanted to boycott the film as makers planned for a OTT release within a month of theatrical opening.
