Bollywood star Akshay Kumar yesterday unknowingly committed a violation of the Flag Code when he held the Tricolour the wrong way at the finals of the ICC Women's World Cup 2017. To make the matters worse, without realizing his mistake, he posted the picture on his timeline. Faced with criticism, he has tendered an apology on Twitter.
"Extending my sincerest apology for violating the code of conduct for the tricolor. Didn't mean to offend anyone. The picture has been removed," he tweeted.
The Flag Code, which comes with a statutory backing, strictly forbids anyone from holding or hoisting the National Flag in an improper way.
