Tamil blockbuster 'Soorarai Pottru' was released in November last year and it turned out to be a huge success. The film was appreciated for its inspiring story and Suriya's performance. Director Sudha Kongara Prasad also got global acclaim for her work in the film. Now as it is the case with every successful southern movie, 'Soorarai Pottru' is also going to get a remake.

Sudha herself confirmed the reports of a Hindi remake. Several reports suggested that Akshay Kumar is being considered for the lead role. Sudha said, "It is all discussion stage only. Only the producers are on board officially. I need to start writing the Hindi version." This statement suggests that makers aren't in negotiations with Akshay as of now.

'Soorarai Pottru' was based on the life of aviator GR Gopinath. He realised his dream of making air travel affordable for common people. Talking about Suriya and the grand success of the film, Sudha earlier said, "It’s all in God’s hands. I remember when it went to the OTT platform I wasn’t very happy. I wondered why it should go there. Then I saw the love it got and its massive reach, and I decided to shut up and let HIM do the rest.”
