Masala action flicks are a staple in Bollywood since they give audience the glimpse of something larger than life and make a lot of money on box office. Akshay Kumar starrer 'Rowdy Rathore' was one such film and over years, it has managed to become a pop culture icon. The film was a remake of the Telugu film 'Vikramarkudu' which was written by SS Rajamauli's father, KV Vijayendra Prasad.

Latest buzz suggests that Prasad is now working on a sequel and soon we might see Akshay Kumar reprising the role of Shiva from the first film. Vijayendra Prasad confirmed, "I am currently writing the Rowdy Rathore 2 script. Bhansali saab [Sanjay Leela Bhansali, producer] approached me to write the sequel. I should be able to complete the script soon."

'Vikramarkudu' was directed by SS Rajamauli while the Hindi version was directed by Prabhudeva. As of now, it is not clear who will direct the sequel.
