Weeks after he was conferred the Best Actor award for 2016 by the National Awards jury, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has reacted rather sharply on the controversies engendered in some quarters regarding whether he actually deserved the prestigious award for his performance in 'Rustom'. In fact, his 'Holiday' director AR Murugadoss himself had openly raised aspersions about the impartiality of the jury in general, triggering a counter-response from the jury head Priyadarshan.
After the dust has seemingly settled, Akshay said yesterday on the sidelines of a charity event he hosted, that if someone felt he didn't deserve the Award, they could take it away from him. He suggested that he got the award only after 26 years after being an artiste.
Further, this one of the most commercially successful actors in the country indicated that such controversies are a matter of routine as, year after year, someone or the other questions the decisions of the jury.
