Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who was awarded Indian citizenship this year on Independence Day, even gave an anecdote that he had while holding an Indian passport at a foreign immigration office. He remembered being told, "Oh, you come from the land of Modi," referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Akshay emphasized how much respect Indians get overseas. However, the clip went viral, and some netizens trolled him for the remark.
In response, one user wrote, "The guy's totally lost it now. He's gone into a deep rabbit hole of sycophancy instead of cheering from the periphery. Nothing good comes out of this." Another gave a similar account: "True. Last time I was standing with an Indian passport, I was mobbed by people from other nations, including immigration officers, who wanted to know how to move to India. I told them there were too many people wanting to come to India after a long screening; it is better to enter from Bangladesh or Nepal."
It was a surprise for many when Akshay Kumar announced his Indian citizenship on one free day, especially since he had Canadian citizenship. He moved to Canada very early in his career, and during that time, none of his Indian films were running well at the box office. However, as soon as he bounced back successfully in India, he stayed back there only.
As for his films, Akshay recently acted in "Mission Raniganj," released on October 6. He is slated to act in the Hindi remake of the Tamil drama "Soorarai Pottru" (to be released on February 16, 2024), an action thriller "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" opposite Tiger Shroff, and a comedy film "Housefull 5." Akshay will also act in "SkyForce."
