A misfortune has fallen upon Akshay Kumar as his mother, Aruna Bhatia, passed away on Wednesday morning. Akshay informed his fans through an Instagram post. He stated how he lost a column of support and how unbearable it is for him. The post read, "She was my core. And today I feel an unbearable pain at the very core of my existence. My maa Smt Aruna Bhatia peacefully left this world today morning and got reunited with my dad in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period. Om Shanti."

Akshay was shooting for his upcoming film 'Cindrella' in London when he got to know that his mother is unwell. After giving minor instructions to the filming crew, the actor rushed back home. Akshay's fans also sent prayers for his mother and family. To these, Akshay replied by sharing a post on Instagram which read, "Touched beyond words at your concern for my mom’s health. This is a very tough hour for me and my family. Every single prayer of yours would greatly help."

After completing the last rites in his mother's funeral, Akshay payed a visit to filmmaker Anand L Rai who's mother also passed away on Wednesday.
