After Indian prime minister Narendra Modi constituted the PM Cares fund for corona relief activities, the first person from film industry to announce a contribution was Bollywood star Akshay Kumar who donated a massive Rs 25 crore to help fight the coronavirus.
Now, Akshay Kumar has again contributed Rs 3 crores, this time for Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and this money has been donated with the intention of helping in the production of personal protective equipment (PPE), masks and rapid testing kits to assist healthcare and municipal workers.
Yesterday, Akshay posted a photo of himself thanking everyone fighting from the front, and captioned "Name : Akshay Kumar City : Mumbai Mere aur mere parivaar ki taraf se...Police, Nagar Nigam ke workers, doctors, nurses, NGOs, volunteers, government officials, vendors, building ke guards ko #DilSeThankYou ????".
