Title - Akira, Banner - S2 Entertainment, Producers - SS Reddy, Chetan, Srikanth Prasanna, Music - Ajanish Lokanath, Camera - Yogi, Cast - Aneesh, Aditi, Krishi, Avinash, Bullet Prakash, Priyanka, Sindhu Lokanath and others.
The confidence level of this team is impressive. That does not mean the audience would digest any boring substance. Debut producers and debut director of this film should have made thorough study on what exactly gets applaud and makes it interesting for repeated audience. Both the elements are missing. Yet Naveen Reddy in his first venture has made good exercise, it is precisely not sufficient for box office win.
In fact he has amalgamated a few of the recent Kannada films for his screenplay. The emergence of two more pretty girls - Priyanka of Ganapa fame and popular actress Sindhu Lokanath not add much value to the screenplay. The chat between father and son is most interesting part of this film. Like how Yash shifted to life from love in ‘Googly’, in the similar way the protagonist in this ‘Akira’ takes two years to flourish and make his father enterprise one of the top ten in business. When he returns the two girls - Sahiti and Lavayna (Aditi and Krishi) also settling down indicate that life is more important than love. That is true and the generation aptly makes such decisions.
Like most of the directors Naveen Reddy has grabbed attention from his screenplay. He goes on past and present to float in future. Such guessing elements and feel good factor at the end is interesting part of this film.
A flamboyant youth Akil has tough time with the wavering mind of Saahiti. In a fit of anger he moves to Goa where he finds Lavanya who happens to be good friend of Saahiti. Things go unsteady for Akil who is Akira to his father a business tycoon. He has wasted four years in his life. He takes up the advice of his father and leaps in to business. He flourishes. His old friend Jaanu finds a match for him. We find Saahiti happily settled in abroad and Lavanya in to direction profession.
This is a very good platform for Aneesh as hero. He has utilized the chance beautifully. His style, dance, dialogue delivery, emotion, perseverance and action are good. He could take up more action oriented films. Krishi Tapanda is a good heroine to watch in the coming days. Aditi Rao has a poignant role. Bullet Prakash and Avinash catch attention for their roles.
Music director Ajanish Lokanath has done well but the sound system in Anupama theatre is a main villain to hard work. The location especially Norway is a feast to eyes. Yogi in his debut Kannada as cameraman has given a neat and tidy work.
The film editing should have been crisp. Even now this 124 minutes film could be reduced to 120 minutes avoiding inconsequential situations.
S2 Entertainment in the first attempt has given great support to the team of Naveen Reddy. This is worth watching once.
