Akhil Akkineni's film with director Surender Reddy will hit the screens on August 12. Producer Anil Sunkara made the official announcement of its release date on Friday.

The high-stakes action thriller has been shot for many months, on and off. Recently, a schedule was started in Hyderabad. Malayalam megastar Mammootty is taking part in it. He has got a well-rounded role in 'Agent'.

The occasion of Independence Day, the makers suggested, is apt for the movie. "Agent is a pack of ingredients that evoke patriotism," the makers said.

The trade is abuzz with the thrill of enjoying a very good run on the first Monday (read Aug 15), which is a public holiday.

The 'Most Eligible Bachelor' actor has got a role that is referred to as ‘The Wild One’. Akhil is romancing Sakshi Vaidya in the thriller. With music by Hip Hop Thamizha, 'Agent' has cinematography by Ragul Herian Dharuman. Naveen Nooli and Avinash Kolla are its editor and art director, respectively. Stun Shiva is the film's action director.
