What is it all about

Luv Ranjan second feature after `Pyaar Ka Punchnama' is neither utterly butterly delicious like any b-town bubble gum romance nor it's a bitter reality take on the world of love and relationships we live in and still it manages to stir balance of reel smarts and real sentiment to a lot of extend provided you have the patience.

If Pyaar Ka Punchanama made you laugh when you came out from the theatres recollecting the scene where Kartik Tewari opens his heart out on women..`AkaashVani' is the kind of film that could mean more to people after they've left the theater and thought about it awhile.

Luv Ranjan displays his versatility in genres with `Akaashvani', his previous was targeted to the youth here he tries to grab the eyeballs of the family as well and succeeds to a lot of extend.

The Story

The movie starts with Akaash (Kartik Tiwari) & Vani (Nushrat Bharucha), both setting out on their journey towards a common destination.. St.Stephen's College, Delhi University.

It so happens that the moment they meet, their life takes an unusual turn. As they walk towards their first class in college, they are on their way to share their lives with each other for the next three years.

Vani generates a calmness and control in Akaash that he never had and Akaash gives Vani a streak of rebellion she could never think of possessing within herself. And then it happens, for no reason except for the fact that they complete each other, they fall in love.

In three years, Akaash & Vani become companions not only in the important things of life but also in the most stupid, mundane, irrational parts of each other's life. But as college ends, they have to separate and when this separation reaches a point where it seems their destiny is to get each other back against the will of their families, society and their own dilemmas.

The journey of Akaash & Vani's struggle to find each other once again in the world they first met

What to look out for

Having an emotional centre the movie has touchy moments which make you feel for the characters.. it deals with love, parenthood, betrayal, society, friendship, orthodoxy, chauvinism, and lack of communication in relationships that still exists in today's world of blackberry, twitter and facebook.

Luv Ranjan pinches this issues but doesn,t gets judgmental that's the beauty. Kartik and Nushrat grow with this film and appear more confident. They are certainly the talent to look out for in near future. The writing again is a major highlight.

The dialogues have really come out well. Sudhir K. Chaudhary camera has captured the moments especially the romantic ones with e'lan. the friends played by Sana Shaikh (Sumbul) and Gautam Mehra (as Shekhar), the husband played by Sunny Singh, Kiran Kumar and Shubhangi as Vani's parents and Mahesh Thakur and Prachi Shah Pandya as Vani's uncle and aunt justify their roles .

What not

The pace could have been crisper.. the second half prolongs unnecessarily and the climax is a letdown and the music by Hitesh Soni isn,t inspiring enough when we lend our ears though they look beautiful on screen.

Conclusion: Akaash Vani is cut above those mushy mushy rom com where everything is feel good.. Luv Ranjan grows as a filmmaker so does the lead actors Kartik and Nushrat. Producer Kumar Mangat gets a pat on his back for believing in such love stories. climax could have been better. Like the previous Pyaar Ka Punchanama which survived the onslaught of biggies, Akaash Vani certainly demands a watch for its reality take in love wrapped
chocolate.
