Ajith Kumar the very name inspires millions of his fans who revere him for being self made and living a straightforward life. For twenty years people lovingly called him as Thala Ajith or simply Thala which became a magical prefix to his name.

Actually it was in the film 'Dheena' directed by A.R. Murugadoss that Ajith was first called Thala and it was mouthed by 'Mahanadhi' Shankar who played his henchman in the film. Now after twenty years it is reported that Shankar is working with Ajith in the new movie 'AK 61'. He is said to be playing an important role that will have a mix of humor and grey shades.

Recently Ajith decided not to use the word Thala as a prefix to his name and he released a statement “I henceforth wish to be referred to as Ajith, Ajith Kumar or just AK, and not as 'Thala' or any other. prefix before my name.
