Thala Ajith's 'Vivegam' is continuing its dream run at the Chennai box office, where it has become the highest grossing film of the year according to reports.  In some territories the high price paid for the mega film has resulted in low returns or losses for which the distributors are said to be claiming compensation from the producers.

The 'Vivegam' factor has reportedly altered the business plans of the next two mega releases. Lyca Productions have decided to release the Mahesh Babu-ARM project 'Spyder' on their own and similarly Sri Thenandal Studios banking on the Vijay magic in triple roles have decided to take ‘Mersal’ to the people without going in for distribution in the majority of the areas. However we will have to wait for official confirmation on these.
