Thala Ajith had earlier this year acted in Viswasam, his fourth collaboration with director Siva, and the movie was released on January 10 as a Pongal festival treat for fans, clashing with Superstar Rajnikanth starrer Petta directed by Karthik subbaraj.

Viswasam turned out to be a massive Blockbuster and the career best hit of Thala Ajith. The movie also starred lady superstar Nayanthara, Jagapathi Babu, Yogi Babu, Robo Shankar, Anikha Surendran, Vivek, and had music scored by D Imman.

Besides box office records, Viswasam has broken television records as well, as the movie has become the most watched premiere movie on television. Viswasam was premiered on TV on May 1, coinciding with Thala Ajith Birthday, and the movie has achieved 18143 thousand impressions becoming the new number 1, surpassing previous best record of Vijay Antony starrer Pichaikaran's 17696. Coming in third spot is Thalapathy Vijay starrer sarkar with 16906 thousand impressions.
