Both Ajith and Vijay were independent and successful actors, when the first heads on fan clash happened in 2002 with the release of 'Villain' and 'Bhagavathi' on the same day. The clash continued in 2003 with the release of 'Anjaneya' and 'Thirumalai', in 2006 with 'Paramasivam' and 'Aadhi', and last time in 2007, with 'Alwar' and 'Pokkiri' hitting the screens on the same day.

After six years, looks like the the fans will lock horns once at the theatres with the announcement that director Siva's Ajith starrer 'Veeram' and director Nesan's Vijay starrer 'Jilla' will be Pongal 2014 release. Although 'Jilla' shooting was initially deferred by Mohanlal's illness, but now the Malayalam Superstar has given dates for the project on priority basis, and the 'Jilla' team is successfully rushing through shooting schedules. With the scoop on 'Jilla' that it is a police story, and the first look posters of 'Veeram' with Ajith in the typical southern flavoured veshti getup, there is immense expectation vested on both the projects. Let's wait and watch as the films set box office on fire.
