Thalapathy Vijay's 'Varisu' directed by Vamshi Paidipally and Ajith's 'Thunivu' directed by H. Vinoth released with great hype on January 11th. Both the films satisfied their fans to a great extent and are set to dominate the box office for atleast the next couple of weeks.

While there are several reports regarding which film is ahead in the race there is another interesting record that has been created in an awesome manner. According to sources from the Kollywood film trade 'Thunivu' and 'Varisu' jointly collected around rupees forty five crores at the home box office.

It is said that in the history of Tamil cinema even when there were five to six films of top heroes released at the same time the collections never went this high. The charismatic rivals Vijay and Ajith have now jointly rewritten the record books with their pulling power.

'Varisu' has Rashmika Mandanna as Vijay's pair with music by Thaman and is produced by Dil Raju. 'Thunivu' has Ajith and Manju Warrier in the action packed thriller produced by Boney Kapoor.
