Thala Ajith's 'Vedalam' has released as a grand Diwali treat yesterday. Ajith film's have always known to get extra-ordinary opening collections thanks to his huge fan following. Releasing on a festival day like 'Deepavali meant more added-up to the fortunes of this Siva directed mass masala action flick.

Reports coming in from various trade analysts of Kollywood assert that 'Vedalam' has had an earth-shattering opening which has broken all the previous records on opening day collections. The film was screened in around 520 screens in Tamil Nadu and 450 screens in other parts of the world.The collections made from the advance bookings made for all the shows on the first day itself has crossed Rs.20 crores and the exact gross collections of the first day will be more than this. Trade sources aver that this is going to be the biggest ever opening day collection for a Tamil film.

With 'Vedalam' Ajith has proved yet again that he is the 'King of Opening'.

At the same time, it must be noted that the film has opened to mixed reviews and many reviews call it an average or below average entertainer. This may affect overall collections made by the film at the end of its complete theatrical run.
