'Valimai' is the latest big-ticket film to be postponed to an indefinite future date in view of the intensifying third wave across many parts of India. Tamil Nadu is currently undergoing restrictions like Sunday curfews and night curfews. It was speculated that Ajith's actioner will not hit the screens. And that's what has happened.
Producer Boney Kapoor delivered the bad but expected news by first acknowledging the love of the audience. "Their unconditional support and love during the hard times, instilled vital hopes in us to face hardships, and successfully complete our dream project," he said.
The makers added that cheerful and happy cinema halls have been a constant desire during the pandemic. They emphasized that the "safety and well-being of our audiences has always been at the forefront of all our decisions".
The postponement has been attributed to the "steep rise in covid infections across the globe. The film won't release until the situation normalizes.
'Valimai' features Kartikeya Gummakonda as the villain. The film was expected to rake in huge moolah in Tamil this Pongal had it not been for the third wave-induced postponement.
