Ajith Kumar and Thalapathy Vijay fans have always been at loggerheads with each other. The two are considered this era's on-screen rivals in the film industry following the Rajinikanth-Kamal Haasan duo. Now, a recent report suggests that the stars are set to clash at the box office soon.

Ajith and Vijay last locked horns at the box office during the 2014 Pongal when their respective films 'Veeram' and 'Jilla' were released on the same date. Both the movies did very well at the box office. According to sources, the latest is that Ajith Kumar's 'AK61' will clash with Thalapathy Vijay starrer 'Varisu' during Pongal 2023.

It is a well-known fact that the makers of Thalapathy Vijay's 'Varisu' announced that the movie will have a grand theatrical release on Pongal 2023. On the other hand, 'AK61', initially planned to release on Diwali 2022, was pushed to a later date as it will take time for the team to complete the shoot.

The makers of 'Ajith 61' are reportedly planning to take the film to the next festival. Since they couldn't find a suitable date in the in-between months, 'AK61' makers decided to release the movie during Pongal in January 2023. However, there is no official confirmation on this yet. The title and first look of 'Ajith 61' are expected to be launched in August.
