The fans of Ajith Kumar are on cloud nine as they are set to witness their idol on the big screens after more than 850 days in the biggest action thriller 'Valimai', slated to release worldwide on February 24 in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. This film will see the Ultimate Star playing a cop and biker while Kartikeya appears as an outlaw villain.
Bankrolled by Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects LLP and Zee Studios, the talented new-gen filmmaker H Vinoth has directed 'Valimai'. The massive budget biggie is set to be released in the world's biggest theatre, Grand Rex, in Paris among thousands of other screens. Now, H Vinoth has revealed some exciting facts about the movie in an interview with the media.
While the film’s action sequences are getting tremendous hype on social media, the director insists that Valimai is “not just an action film”. “It is a proper family entertainer that also talks about social issues. When I say family film, it is not about the issues that crop up within a family, but it deals with an issue that a family faces, how that results in a crime, and how the hero tries to stop that crime from wrecking his family. It is a film that one should watch with their family,” Vinoth says.
The filmmaker continued, "We wanted to release it for Diwali, but that didn’t happen. Then, we thought of a December or a Pongal release, which also couldn’t be done. In fact, every wave of COVID brought us different issues, but I feel the delays have also helped us to release the film in two more languages additionally. With OTT platforms gaining ground, even if you don’t do a theatrical release, your film has the potential to be a pan-India film since they anyway dub the film into multiple languages."
When asked about Ajith Kumar's reaction after watching the final version of the movie, Vinoth unveiled, "Ajith sir told me, ‘I feel proud to have done this film. I’m going to screen this film for my mom and dad, and my family, as I feel like a proud son after having made this film.’ He has screened it for them, and it was only after seeing their response that our producer decided to release it in a big way in Hindi, Telugu and Kannada."
