The massive update that Ajith Kumar's fans have been waiting for is here. As we reported earlier, Lyca Productions is set to bankroll Ajith Kumar's 62nd film, tentatively titled 'AK62'. The fun and talented director Vignesh Shivan will write and direct the movie with music by Rockstar Anirudh.

It is being said that Vignesh Shivan's lover and the Lady Superstar, Nayanthara, will be headlining the female lead role. This project will mark the third collaboration of Anirudh with the ultimate star after the chartbuster albums, 'Vedalam' and 'Vivegam'. Vignesh Shivan has previously penned lyrics for Ajith's viral hit songs, 'Adhaaru Adhaaru' and 'Naanga Vera Maarai'.

Vignesh Shivan and Anirudh took to their social media handles to announce the project while Lyca Productions has released an official statement to break the news to the fans.

The production house's letter read, "We proudly announce our next film with Mr. Ajith Kumar "AK 62" to be directed by Mr. Vignesh Shivan, music composed by Mr. Anirudh, produced by Mr. Subaskaran. This project will be headed by Mr. G.K.M. Tamil Kumaran.

The shooting of the film will commence by the end of this year and release by mid next year. The other cast and crew details will be announced soon.

As a team, Lyca is committed to carry out a sincere and fruitful collaboration to provide quality films to the audiences and fans." (sic)

Meanwhile, Ajith's 60th film 'Valimai' directed by H. Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor was released on February 24th and is said to have grossed over Rs 200 crores. Already the set work for his next 'AK61' is underway at the Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad and in all likelihood the shooting will start on March 18th.
