Oxford's dictionary is considered to be the world's most standard authority on the meaning of words. The dictionary is widely referred to by students, scholars, and academicians globally. Recently, Oxford updated the dictionary with new words from regional languages into their dictionary.
Among the many updated words, an interesting addition was 'Anna' meaning 'elder brother' from the Tamil language. Explaining the meaning to the term, in an example sentence, Oxford has used Thala Ajith's name as well. The example sentence reads: "I got to act with Ajith anna".
Incidentally, the word 'Anna' means much the same in Telugu as well. However, the Oxford uses it in the context of the Tamil language. Thus, we see 'Annan' being explained, but not 'Annayya'. Had it been the case, either NTR, Chiranjeevi or Pawan Kalyan, all of whom are fondly referred to as Anna/Annayya, might well have found their name mentioned in the dictionary!
