Ajay's 'Singham' aims for 75 crores

Yet another pleasant surprise has greeted Bollywood, what with Ajay Devgn also joining the club of those superstars who have a 50 crores first week to their credit. His 'Singham' has turned into a huge success and after garnering 30 crores over the opening weekend, it only stayed on to be mighty stable at the box office by adding another 20 crores over the next four days.

Now this is indeed phenomenal considering the fact that it is an out and out action film and still it has stayed on to be so consistent at the box office. Word of mouth for the film has been quite good which resulted in this Rohit Shetty directed flick generating even more moolah when compared to 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' which had fallen short by a few crores in it's opening week.

In fact the super success of 'Singham' is all the more impressive since a large share of it's moolah has come from (far lesser priced) single screens which means 50 crores collections convey a far higher footfalls when compared to a 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' or a 'Delhi Belly', both of which have been mainly multiplex successes. This by no means denies the worthy success that these two films have earned for themselves but 'Singham' certainly goes on to prove once again that Ajay Devgn has been enjoying a massy outing for himself time and again, year after year, for two decades now.

The film is now yet another huge success for the combination of Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty. Also, there is no stopping the film now since the second weekend has been positive as well, hence making it crystal clear that audience interest has pretty much managed to sustain beyond the opening week as well. With no competition in sight till the release of 'Aarakshan', 'Singham' is now all set to cross the 75 crore mark, hence turning out to be the biggest success ever for Ajay Devgn in a solo starrer and third biggest multi-starrer success after 'Golmaal 3' and 'Raajneeti'.
