Ajay Devgan's 'Bhuj' turns out to be an overblown mess

War movies 'Shershah' and 'Bhuj' were bound to be compared with each other since they both tell real stories of the valour of our armed forces. While 'Shershah' managed to impress everyone, 'Bhuj' proved to be an overblown mess. It seems like makers have given no consideration to history or how IAF, Indian Army or the general warfare works. So much creative liberty has been taken that film almost seems cartoonish.
Some of the scenes which make no sense at all include Ajay Devgan driving a truck as a huge transport aircraft lands on it; Sanjay Dutt fighting Pakistani troops hand to hand in the trenches; Ammy Virk flying a transport aircraft after his jet has been shot down.
According to historians and veterans of 1971 war, Bhuj Airbase didn't have much of an strategic importance. It was just a decoy airfield while the actual base of operations was the Jamnagar base. Air Marshal Bharat Kumar had a hearty laugh when he was informed that 'Bhuj' featured a transport aircraft landing on a truck running on the runway.
