It was already reported that the 2019 blockbuster Kaithi, starring Karthi, will be remade in Hindi. Reports suggest that the male lead for the project may have been finalized.

Kaithi, that released alongside Vijay's Bigil, emerged as a critically-acclaimed blockbuster. The shooting of the Hindi remake, which will be jointly produced by Reliance Entertainment and Dream Warrior Pictures, is expected to begin after the entire cast and crew of the project is finalized. Meanwhile, Pinkvilla has mentioned that Ajay Devgan is likely to play Karthi's role in the movie. The entertainment portal quoted a source that said, "Ajay Devgn is being considered to play Karthi's role in the remake. He has watched the Tamil film and narration of the Hindi adaptation has also happened. He's very keen to do the film and has expressed his interest in the same. The deal is almost locked and the final modalities are being worked out currently before the team makes the official announcement." Rumours were earlier doing the rounds that 'War' star Hrithik Roshan had been roped in to play the role of Karthi in the movie. An official update from the team is yet to be made.

While it is expected that Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is now busy with Vijay's upcoming movie Master, might be directing the remake version as well, there is no confirmation as yet.
