Master filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali released the trailer of the Alia Bhatt starrer 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' on his 58th birthday. It garnered praises from critics and fans alike. Now according to recent developments, it's been revealed that actor Ajay Devgan will play an important character in the film.

Ajay will play the role Karim Lala, a real life don who operated in Mumbai in 70s and 80s. He will begin working on the film from today and a vast set has been installed in Mumbai for him. The project will mark Ajay and Sanjay's reunion after 22 years. They previously worked together on 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam'.

'Gangubai Kathiawadi' is based on star author S Hussain Zaidi's book 'Mafia Queens of Mumbai' and it is set to release on 30th of July.
