Superstar Ajay Devgan will soon be seen making his OTT debut with the upcoming thriller show 'Rudra: The Edge of Darkness' which is a remake of the British show 'Luther' starring Idris Elba in the lead. The show will feature Ajay in the role of a competent but workoholic cop and it will be a farcry from his character in 'Singham' films.
Recently, during a conversation with IANS, Ajay talked about how his character is more of a detective than a action hero. He said, “I like the idea of a cop who beat criminals at their game because he’s able to stay ahead of them. He’s not a gun-toting guy, he’s more a mind-game kind of policeman. Rudra is cool, yet super-sharp."
Since this is a remake, Ajay is bound to have some comparisons with Idris Elba but he totally cool and relaxed about it. He said, "I like the original and I liked Idris Elba in it. As far as comparisons go, I have never aped anyone. After 30 years of acting, you can only be yourself. So, it’s ridiculous to draw parallels. But I can hardly change the way people think. It’s their prerogative. My job is doing something with complete honesty. Honesty doesn’t come with any kind of pressure."
'Rudra' will release on 4th of March on Disney+ Hotstar.
