The B-town diva Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was recently at the United Nations headquarters to grace the world body's annual ceremony to commemorate the International Day of Peace.
The event was presided over by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. On the occasion, Aishwarya recited the famous Sanskrit sloka "Om Shanti" in order to convey her message of peace and while addressing to the students she urged them to set aside their egos and individual desires to find peace within themselves.
In the course of the day, Aishwarya got the chance to interacte with UN Messengers of Peace actor Michael Douglas, British anthropologist Jane Goodall, Jewish-American writer and Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel and American actress and singer Monique Coleman.
Aishwarya also participated in a panel discussion on the theme of 'Sustainable Peace for a Sustainable Future', which was attended by students from across the country.
Talking about the entire event, the actress was quoted saying, "This experience, my journey beginning today with the United Nations is quite a learning curve for me."
The International Day of Peace was on September 21.
