These days Sanjay Leela Bhansali is busy with the casting process of his passion project 'Heera Mandi'. The ambitious web show is supposed to have around 8-10 mainstream actresses in the role of sex workers. Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha have already joined the cast and Alia Bhatt is also being considered. Reports by Bollywood Hungama also state that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan might also join the film.

Aish is being considered for the role which was originally supposed to be played by Rekha but it seems like Rekha's inability to work well with a team has forced makers to look for another options. However, these are all specualtions and nothing has been confirmed officially.

A source informed Bollywood Hungama, “It is the same part for which Rekha was being considered. But it is believed Rekha has become difficult to direct over the years. Bhansali’s enthusiasm to sign Rekha was considerably dampened by her treatment of director Abhishek Kapoor during the making of Fitoor when Rekha had to be dropped overnight and replaced by Tabu. Rather than face such problems, Sanjay has dropped the idea of casting Rekha and may opt for Aishwarya instead.”
