Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai, who made her debut in Kollywood with Mani Ratnam's Iruvar, has officially announced that she is part of the director's much-awaited film adaptation of the Tamil literary novel Ponniyin Selvan at the inaugural of Longines' new boutique in Chennai.
Confirming that she is working with Mani Ratnam yet again, Aishwarya Rai said, "It is my honour and my privilege to work with him, any and every time throughout my lifetime as an actor. So yes, I am going to be working in Ponniyin Selvan and I am looking forward to it." Aishwarya will reportedly essay the role of Nandini, the antagonistic wife of Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar in the film. The character will apparently provide a huge scope for her to display her acting prowess.
Aishwarya Rai has previously worked with Mani Ratnam in Iruvar, Guru, and Raavan. While Vikram and Aishwarya Rai have made official announcements on working in the historical classic, the rest of the rumoured cast includes Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Jyotika, Mohan Babu, and Amala Paul among others.
