One of the most ambitious films under production in India is the Mani Ratnam mega multistarrer 'Ponniyin Selvan' adapted from the epic novel of the same name written by Kalki. The ensemble cast boasts of such big names as Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Jayaram, Prabhu, Nizhalgal Ravi, Sarathkumar and others.

It is now revealed that Prabhu is playing the role of Periya Pazhuvettaiyar and Nizhalgal Ravi as Chinna Pazhuvettaiya. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is playing dual roles as Mandakini and Nandhini. The role Nandhini in 'Ponniyin Selvan' is the consort of Periya Pazhuvettaiyar.

According to this characterization Aishwarya will be playing the pair of senior hero Prabhu. However, there is no official confirmation regarding this as of now. The duo have already shared screen space in 'Raavanan' also directed by Mani Ratnam.
