India's evergreen beautiful lady and one of the highly talented actress of Indian cinema Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is celebrating her 42nd birthday today.Yes the nature and birth calendar say it has been two years since she crossed 40, otherwise no one would have been reminded of her age.

Aish- as she is fondly referred to by everyone - made it to the headlines in the year 1994 by winning the Miss World beauty pageant. She entered the film industry with the Tamil film 'Iruvar' directed by Mani Ratnam and also acted in Shankar's 'Jeans'. She entered Bollywood in the same year and acted with many leading heroes and superstars. Over the years, she carved a niche for herself in India's glitteriest, film industry as a performance oriented actress and acted in some offbeat films like 'Devdas', 'Raincoat' and the Bengali film 'Choker Bali'. She came back to Tamil with Mani Ratnam's Tamil-Hindi bilingual 'Ravanan' and Shankar's Tamil blockbuster sci-fi thriller 'Enthiran' with Superstar Rajinikanth. She has also acted in English films 'Bride & Predudice', 'Provoked' and a few others. She has received the honourable Red Carpet welcome in the prestigious Cannes Film Festival held in France.

In the year 2007, she married Amithabh Bachchan's son and actor Abhishek Bachchan and took a break from acting in the year 2010 for maternity. After four years hiatus, she made a comeback with the recent release 'Jazba; in which she had played the lead role of a struggling single mother.

The Bachchan Bahu is now acting in the Karan Johar directed film 'Ae Dil Hal Mushkil' with Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma.
