"Air India has issued an official circular to all cabin crew and cockpit crew directing them to say 'Jai Hind' after any announcement onboard," says the official Twitter handle of Air India. The move has raised eyebrows.
Air India wants every announcement to be followed by a 'Jai Hind', delivered with "much fervour". This is in keeping "with the mood of the nation".
Taking a dig at the decision, former J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti today said, "Little surprise that with General Elections around the corner, the josh of patriotism hasn't spared even the skies."
YouTube star Dhruv Rathee took a swipe at the pointless circular with a sarcasm. "Ladies and gentlemen, we are passing through turbulent weather, please fasten your seatbelts belts, Jai Hind! Please do not use the toilets now, Jai Hind! Cabin crew to landing stations, Jai Hind! We apologize for the delay in departure, Jai Hind!"
