Union Road Transport Minister Pon Radhakrishnan a.k.a. Ponnar has asserted that the ‘last chapter’ of the ruling AIADMK in the State was being written now.
Speaking to newsmen yesterday in Vellore, Ponnar termed the Act banning the ‘Triple Talaq’ among Muslims as a ‘boon’ to lakhs of Muslim women who had been at the mercy of the menfolk for long. “Many Islamic families are now celebrating with happiness as the BJP-led Centre has approached the issue keeping only the Muslim women’s crisis in mind,” he said.
He said that the Dravidian parties’ hold over the people in the State has been on the wane and added that the last chapter of AIADMK was being written at present. “DMK is already on its downhill journey,” he said and conceded that people might think Rajini’s entry into politics might bring about a welcome change in the State’s political climate.
“We are making sincere efforts to ensure that the BJP gains strength in the State right from the grassroots level,” he added. Poonar’s comments about AIADMK is viewed with disbelief by critics at a time when it is believed that the BJP-led Centre is ‘remote-controlling’ the EPS-OPS-led AIADMK in the State.
