AIADMKs fast protest on Monday to protest against Centre in Cauvery row

The ruling AIADMK would be organizing State-wide fast protests on Tuesday (03rd April) to protest against the Centre's reluctance in abiding by the Supreme Court's directions to set up a Cauvery Management Board (CMB).

Decision on fast protest was announced by the AIADMK's convener and deputy chief-minister O. Panneerselvam at Madurai yesterday. People of the State in general and farmers in particular feel betrayed by the Centre's carefree attitude in not bothering to abide by the apex Court's directions in setting up a CMB.

Speaking at a marriage ceremony at Madurai yesterday, OPS said "We shall never allow anybody to take away from us our livelihood rights and shall continue to fight to preserve and protect our rights. As a token of this, we would be organizing a fast protest on 03rd April (Tuesday) all over the State. Cadres would sit on a day-long fast at all the District Headquarters in all the Districts of the State.

"This huge non-violent protest would created a huge impact across the country as we are to pressurize the Centre to act only in accordance with the apex Court's directions in this regard. Law and order problems won't be created during this non-violent and peaceful protest across the State. I appeal to party cadres, people and farmers to take part in the protest in huge numbers," OPS concluded.
