Tamil Nadu Information & Publicity Minister Kadambur Raju has informed the press that the ruling AIADMK would observe in a grand manner the first anniversary of taking over as chief-minister by Edapadi K. Palaniswami.
It may be recalled that deputy chief-minister O. Panneerselvam took over as chief-minister at midnight within a few hours of passing away (under mysterious circumstances during and prior to her 75-day long hospitalization at Apollo Hospitals) of former chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa on 05th December, 2016. OPS remained as CM only for two months before he quit to thward Sasikala’s attempts to become the CM.
After the ‘Koovathur’ drama, a new AIADMK regime under Edapadi K. Palaniswami took over and passed the trust-vote in the Assembly which was boycotted by the faction led by OPS but both the factions merged in September last year after which OPS became the deputy chief-minister and also the convener of the united AIADMK.
Raju has announced that the party would be celebrated in a grand manner on 14th February the first anniversary of EPS taking over as the State’s chief-minister. Leaders of other political parties would also be invited to the function, he added.
