DMK’s working president M.K. Stalin has blamed the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu as the ‘face of betrayal’ when it comes to issues concerning the release of Cauvery water from Karnataka.
DMK cadres have been protesting hard for the past three days to express their opposition to the EPS-led AIADMK Govt. for not doing ‘enough’ on the Cauvery front and against the Centre for not setting up the much-needed Cauvery Management Board (CMB) despite Supreme Court’s directions in this regard. The apex Court had clarified, though, that it didn’t mean a CMB when it spoke of the need for a ‘scheme’.
“AIADMK claims that it undergoes fast protest to condemn the Centre’s betrayal but is not courageous or bold enough to issue hard-hitting statements against the BJP-led Centre. The ruling party only indulges in below-the-belt remarks against the DMK and the Congress, thus indulging in cheap brand of politics. It is a clear betrayal by the ruling AIADMK that it didn’t make use of its strength in Parliament to bring the Centre to implement the Supreme Court’s orders on setting up the CMB.
“AIADMK has been acting as the BJP’s agent in Parliament by blocking the House’s proceedings to ensure that the BJP doesn’t need to face the no-confidence motions listed against it. The AIADMK ‘staged’ the fast-protest drama to hide its inability and betrayal; they have unmasked themselves by needlessly criticizing the DMK. They are only attempting to fool the people by indulging in such protests,” Stalin said.
