The unified AIADMK has filed a caveat with the Supreme Court of India requesting that its side be heard in cases involving the ‘Two-Leave’ symbol of the party.
As reported earlier, the unified AIADMK (which is now jointly headed by OPS and EPS, the deputy chief-minister and the chief-minister of Tamil Nadu respectively) was allotted the name, flag and the famed ‘Two-Leaves’ symbol of the erstwhile AIADMK by the Election Commission of India after it interrogated the claims of concerned parties for more than 2 months.
It is feared by the AIADMK that Dinakaran, nephew of Sasikala, might prefer filing an appeal with either the High Court of Madras or the Supreme Court of India against the Election Commission’s order rejecting his claim for the AIADMK’s name, flag and symbol.
In order to pre-empt such a move, the AIADMK has now filed a caveat with the apex Court requesting the Court not to pass any order or conduct interrogation on the issue of ‘Two-Leaves’ without involving it. It is now said that Dinakaran might prefer filing an appeal either with the Delhi High Court or with the High Court of Madras.
