Agneepath: Dharma Karma and Ram Gopal Varma

While enjoying coffee with his current hot favourite Karan, mobile phone rings... Too busy to take up the call Karan calls the caller back…

Karan (anxious): Who is this?

The guy: This is Ramu speaking…

Karan: Oh sorry… I didn’t had your number so asked… so how are you? Did you see ‘Agneepath’?

Ramu: yeah, I saw the film and that’s the reason I’m calling you…

Karan: I hope you enjoyed the show…

Ramu: What answer you want? From a director, from an audience or from a producer?

Karan: I am asking the opinion of Mr. Ram Gopal Varma who is all in one... Please give your honest opinion..

Ramu: Karan my honest opinion can’t be universal. We two have things in common… we both are cinelovers, directors and producers... And we both have paid tribute and done remakes so when a director will speak a director will listen similarly for cine lover and producer.

Karan: Bingo! Bring it on (a passing thought of this conversation turning more interesting than his coffee talk show passes his mind)

Ramu: Now you have entered my Department where I had the Sarkar Raj for so many years… I welcome you in the Company of Gangster Filmwallas of Bollywood.

Karan: Thank you sir… Coming from you means a lot…

Ramu: Yeah it means a lot.. But remember the truth.. ‘Satya’ is the best gangster flick of Bollywood and it’s a masterpiece. Agneepath is getting rave reviews. It has broken the Salman Khan’s record by an earth shattering collections of 25 crores... This must be highly motivating for you as a producer but please don’t remake or pay homage to my truth (read Satya).

Karan: I won’t touch the truth… I mean I won’t touch your Satya… Guarantee. But I can’t stop someone who is inspired to do…

Ramu: Your remake, tribute for ‘Agneepath’ which was critically acclaimed but was not a hit has roped in 25 crores on first day… that’s why I’m calling you and asking you.. My tribute to the evergreen, cult, ‘Sholay’ which was critically acclaimed and achieved a landmark at box office was a dud…

Karan: Happens…

Ramu: I’m happy as an audience, the movie is entertaining and paisa vasool… (Money’s worth)... Fantastic performance… I didn’t know Sanjay Dutt will be so scary. I worked with him but didn’t realize. I never believed Katrina the London beauty in her Bollywood duty will do a lavani so well. And of course Hrithik has grown so much as an intense actor. Last but not the least the erstwhile soft Rishi Kapoor was so menacing… Karan Malhotra twisted the original and successfully developed its own individuality and paid a fitting tribute…

Karan: Thank you. As a director what you have to say

Ramu: I welcome Karan Malhotra in our Company of gangster film wallas… Good job considering it’s his first film. The technicalities where fine... The art direction, set designing depicting the era of early 90’s on the streets was commendable… That’s all I have to say.. Can’t reveal much and for that you will have to pay me for my professional services..

Karan: Very professional approach to things…

Ramu: We all are here for money…

Karan: Yeah but we put it where our heart agrees and sees returns.

Ramu: This time the nut and gut feeling where spot on… But I have a question, a doubt to be precise..

Karan: What is it?

Ramu: Will you stop making rom com now?

Karan: No I believe in love and will make love stories... Even you made Rangeela… Then what happened, you didn’t make love story?

Ramu: Karan that’s a different story… I don’t want to discuss now…

Karan: Ok ok. Cool

Ramu: going by the trends and our caliber... I have a proposal which you cannot refuse…

Karan: Tell me

Ramu: my gory and your story.. What say?

Karan: Love Story of a gangster, Rangeela Sarkar.. Sounds interesting…

Ramu: Will make a kill at the B.O. man… but before that one condition…

Karan: What?

Ramu: You will not enter the horror zone!

Karan: I won’t, I’m happy to see you there…Which remake you want to be made…?

Ramu: Its original but still a tribute in a way..

Karan: How?

Ramu: The movie will be the original love story of a gangster where you will direct the dramatic part and pay tribute to me… while I will direct the romantic part and pay tribute to you...

Karan: (laughs) Bingo, Sir Title?

Ramu: Sarkar Ko Pyaar Ho Na Ho…

(Disclaimer the write up is figment of imagination by the writer.. the two had not spoken on this.. it just a light hearted write up).
