After having sent a legal notice to singer Balasubrahmanyam for using his songs without permission , music maestro Ilayaraja has now taken up against the karaoke based music app 'Smule'. The music composer had sent an e-mail to the app's developers to remove his songs from its database.

The music composer's copyrights consultant quoted that Ilayaraja is only against the unauthorised use of his songs for financial gains. He also pointed out that the composer's songs have been always available for free in Youtube and he doesn't oppose it.

Speaking further on the issue, he told that the copyright laws in the country are not as strict as they are in abroad and that every music composer has the right to obtain content rights for their songs, but none than Ilayaraja is doing so. In addition to it, he also said that companies can make use of Ilayaraja's songs if they don't charge their customers for it.

Ilayaraja has also sent an email to 15 other music apps and websites that charge customers money for listening to or downloading his songs.
